Artificialy review

Artificialy is a Swiss artificial intelligence firm founded in 2020 and headquartered in Lugano, with a second office in Zurich, that designs and deploys custom machine learning, computer vision, NLP, and generative AI systems for Swiss companies and public bodies.

Our verdict

Artificialy has delivered more than 50 AI solutions for more than 30 clients from Lugano and Zurich, holds three patents, and in April 2026 took a strategic equity investment from UBS, which is also a client (company page; Artificialy presentation; Startupticker). It suits a Swiss or European organization that wants production AI with strong data residency and governance, and it is less suited to a buyer that needs a large multi-country delivery bench or a low-cost offshore build.

The right buyer

  • Swiss banks, insurers, and industrial firms that need AI in production under Swiss data rules. UBS is both a shareholder and a client, and Artificialy’s PrivateAI Suite is built for on-premise deployment with Swiss-grade security (Artificialy; homepage).
  • Engineering and public-sector teams with hard domain problems. For Casale it built AiPipe to speed piping-system design, and for Gebäudeversicherung Bern and the Court of Appeal of the Canton of Ticino it shipped chatbots and process tools now in productive use (homepage).
  • Buyers who want a long-term AI partner instead of a one-off pilot. It sells an AI journey from workshops through industrialization, plus dedicated innovation teams that stay embedded (homepage).

Reasons to look elsewhere

  • Its offices and most clients listed on its site are in Switzerland, so US buyers will find few local references.
  • With about 40 people it is sized for focused programs, not for a broad multi-workstream enterprise rollout.

Artificialy, At A High Level

Artificialy was founded in Lugano in 2020 by Prof. Luca Maria Gambardella and Prof. Marco Zaffalon to turn research-grade AI into industry solutions (company page). Gambardella is co-founder and chief executive; Zaffalon is co-founder and chief scientist; Alberto De Lorenzi is executive chairman (company page; Artificialy).

  • Offices at Via Ferruccio Pelli 13 in Lugano and Reitergasse 11 in Zurich (company page).
  • About 40 professionals as of its 2025 leadership announcement, and more than 40 experts, 30 clients, 50 delivered solutions, and three patents by its March 2026 presentation; we estimate annual revenue at $6 million to $9 million (Artificialy; presentation).
  • Services cover AI consulting and journeys, long-term AI innovation partnerships with dedicated teams, and the PrivateAI Suite product for private knowledge agents, translation, and workflow automation (homepage).
  • UBS made a strategic investment on about 31 March 2026 and said it would expand the commercial partnership to embed AI across the bank (Startupticker, 2 April 2026; Artificialy).

Scores by criterion

We scored Artificialy from its company and homepage, its CEO and UBS announcements, its March 2026 presentation, and Startupticker coverage. Technical depth and client evidence score highest; commercial clarity scores lowest because it publishes no terms.

Where Artificialy fits

Artificialy is used by Swiss enterprises and public bodies that want custom or private AI systems built and run under Swiss standards. On price it sits with specialist Swiss AI boutiques, above Eastern European nearshore teams and below global consultancies. What clients and leaders say

Artificialy’s leaders and clients describe its work in published announcements. One buyer concern is written from public facts about the firm.

“Our partnership and long-term collaboration with Artificialy has been truly transformative. Their expertise in AI and the dedicated team they’ve provided for us have empowered us to reimagine how we operate, driving innovation and efficiency across our organization.”

“With them we developed AiPipe, which makes the design noticeably faster, improving accuracy and reliability throughout the process. We can now test multiple plant layout scenarios in just short time - something that was simply unthinkable before.”

“Together, we’ve developed several intelligent chatbot solutions that are now in productive use - internally and also for our customers. These solutions have improved our customer service efficiency and internal workflows.”

“The engineers understood our domain fast and the systems went into production, but with a team of about 40 we had to confirm capacity early, and nothing about rates was published.”

Where customer reviews couldn’t be found, our analysts attempted to give a voice to buyer sentiment, drawing on real information from review sites, forums and product documentation. Based on: Artificialy’s 2025 leadership note, which lists about 40 professionals, and its homepage.
