Asif Bakar is the founder, president, and CEO of Xorbix Technologies, the Milwaukee-area software, data, and AI firm he started in 1998, and he has spent more than 25 years building enterprise software, data warehouses, and system integrations for manufacturers, health systems, insurers, and banks (UW E-Business Consortium).
Building a Milwaukee software house
Over his career Bakar has helped launch several commercial software products across healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, finance, and software, and much of his work has been with executive teams planning software projects and managed services (Summerfest Tech). He serves on the corporate board of the Milwaukee School of Engineering and on the industrial advisory committee for its computer science program with an AI emphasis (Summerfest Tech). Under him, Xorbix moved toward AI and Databricks work and made the 2026 Inc. 5000 with 76% three-year growth (Xorbix).
Teaching AI to Wisconsin executives
Bakar now spends much of his time explaining AI use cases to corporate leaders and helping them put AI into their companies (UW E-Business Consortium). At the University of Wisconsin E-Business Consortium’s 2024 conference he led a session called “AI at Work Now” on uses of AI in manufacturing (UW E-Business Consortium). Xorbix also sponsors the Milwaukee Databricks User Group, which its staff organize (Databricks user groups).
