When Xometry hired Xyonix to build machine learning models, its technology chief said co-founder Carsten Tusk “completed the bulk of the work” (Xometry testimonial). Tusk is the co-founder of Xyonix, an AI development, implementation and consulting firm in Seattle, Washington, and advises its data science and engineering teams.
Language Search and Satellite Imagery
He is an inventor on more than a dozen US patents and applications. The earlier ones cover language search and entity recognition, several shared with Deep Dhillon; later ones, assigned to the satellite imagery company DigitalGlobe, cover land classification from Earth images, feature extraction from imagery and image search across resolutions and dates (Justia Patents).
Building Xyonix
Xyonix describes his background as senior engineering management and research scientist roles, language-based search, image retrieval and government-funded research grants (Xyonix). He worked with Dhillon at the language search startup Evri before they started Xyonix in 2016. Clients describe him as hands-on: DexCare’s director of data science said he was heavily involved in building its patient reason-for-visit parser (DexCare testimonial).
