Cesar D’Onofrio is CEO and a co-founder of Making Sense, the software and AI firm he started in 2006 that grew from a development center in his hometown of Mar del Plata, Argentina, into a company of more than 400 people headquartered in Palo Alto, California (Nearshore Americas; Red Argentina IT).
Building a Latin American software team
He co-founded Making Sense in 2006, and within two years it had a development center in Mar del Plata. By 2016, 90% of its workforce was in Latin America while its clients were in the US, and he called that model the achievement he was proudest of (Nearshore Americas).
The firm also built products of its own. It sold Lander, a landing page platform used by Cisco and Patagonia, to a Silicon Valley company (Nearshore Americas).
Leading its AI work
Under him, Making Sense became a Select partner in Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network in October 2026 after taking Claude assistants and agents into production for clients such as the email platform Doppler (Techli). He argues that faster coding still needs people who know a client’s business: “Knowing what a change will touch inside a company still takes people who understand that business” (Techli). Our Making Sense review covers the firm.
