Radosław (Radek) Kamiński is the founder of nexocode, the Kraków AI development company, which he leads with the title company lead, and he has spent most of its life turning it into a flat, self-managed “teal” organization (nexocode; nexocode).
Starting a software house in Kraków
He registered nexocode in Kraków in July 2017 and has been president of its board, a shareholder, and its listed beneficial owner since (company register). By his account it began as a classic software house paid by billable hours, and within two years almost all of its revenue came from one client; when that client ran into financial trouble and the project ended, he called it “a reality check” that showed the company could not rely on one customer (founder story).
Making nexocode teal
In 2018 he began moving nexocode toward the teal model, with self-managed teams, an advice process in which anyone can make a binding decision after consulting peers, open company finances, and salaries that staff set themselves with guidance from colleagues (founder story). He wrote that the hardest part was resistance from people comfortable with the old way of working, and that “teal is a journey, not a destination” (founder story).
