Yury Pukhov is the founder and CEO of YuSMP Group, the custom software and AI firm he started in 2017 after working his way up from developer to CTO of an international company (YuSMP Group; YuSMP Group).
From developer to his own studio
He spent his career in software before founding YuSMP Group, and he has said project work is what drives him: as a project manager, he once shipped several products with developers and testers in one intense stretch, and the energy of that launch stayed with him (YuSMP Group). He chose project delivery over lending engineers to other companies, even though he has said outstaffing would probably be an easier way to earn (YuSMP Group).
He still interviews every new hire himself at the final stage. “It matters to me that each person shares the company’s values and mission,” he has said (YuSMP Group).
Building YuSMP Group in Yerevan
The company grew from a small product engineering team into a group of more than 80 senior engineers headquartered in Yerevan, Armenia, and in 2024 it turned toward clients in the US and Europe (MarketersMEDIA; YuSMP Group). In October 2026 he launched its AI consulting practice, built on a proof of concept as the first paid step: “If the numbers do not work, we say so in writing, and the client has spent weeks instead of a year” (MarketersMEDIA). Our YuSMP Group review covers the firm.
