Dmytro Hrytsenko

Founder and CEO, Master of Code Global

Dmytro Hrytsenko founded Master of Code Global in 2004 and still runs it. The firm started as a Ukrainian development shop and is now known for chatbots and conversational AI for large brands. He told the Mixergy podcast in 2017 that he never planned on a career in software: “I was supposed to be an English teacher” (Mixergy).

An English major who learned to code

Hrytsenko studied English language and literature at university. Teacher pay was too low to live on, he told Mixergy, so he took translation work for Canadian missionaries and then joined a software company called Interlink as an English teacher and translator. The developers there earned more than he did, so he taught himself PHP and HTML until his code was good enough for commercial projects.

He admitted the coding years were hard. “I wasn’t a person to just sit around and code for long,” he said, and he soon moved into finding clients on early freelance marketplaces such as Elance and Rent A Coder.

Moving to Canada and opening US offices

Around 2009 he moved to Canada and opened an office there, while the main engineering team of about 120 people stayed in one building in Ukraine. A Denver, Colorado, office followed, and he credited it with winning eBags as a client, because a company that size wanted someone nearby. By 2017 the client list he could disclose included World Surf League, MTV, T-Mobile, eBags, and Helzberg Diamonds.

Betting early on chatbots

By the time of the 2017 interview, Master of Code was positioning itself as a chatbot builder, running meetups in Winnipeg, Canada, and speaking at conferences to show it understood the messaging ecosystem, not just the code. That bet became the firm’s identity. It now builds generative AI agents for contact centers and sells fixed-price discovery and pilot packages. Our Master of Code review covers those offers.
