Juan Martín Pampliega is co-founder and chief executive of Muttdata, an AI development, implementation and consulting firm with offices in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay, that he started in 2018 with Pedro Ferrari, Pablo Lorenzatto and Juan Mateo de Monasterio. He is known for building the firm around data engineering paired with machine learning, first for online marketing and then for e-commerce and fintech.
Building Data Platforms Before the Models
“When we started the company, we felt that companies did not fully grasp that data teams needed to build robust data platforms to be able to extract true value from their data,” he told Mexico Business News in 2025. Muttdata began with marketing, where data was already digital, and builds demand forecasting, shipping and paid-media models, including a generative ad system for Mercado Libre’s display ads that he said lifted click-through rates by 25%. He said the team reached 130 people in 2024 against a goal of 105, more than doubled revenue and pushed into Mexico with partners including AWS, Databricks and H2O.ai.
