Our verdict
Rearc is a small engineering firm with a decade of AWS and Databricks work for regulated clients, and it now runs an applied AI group, Rearc AI Labs, and belongs to Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network. It suits a regulated company that wants a senior engineering team to build an agent with guardrails, evaluation, and audit trails on AWS or Databricks, and it is less suited to a buyer who wants a large program or business-led strategy work.
The right buyer
- Insurers and financial firms. For a large insurer it built a Claude assistant on AWS Bedrock that answers policy questions for three groups of users, backed by the company’s first production MCP server (Rearc AI Labs).
- Teams that need guardrails and audit trails. Its enterprise AI framework includes an LLM gateway, guardrails, auditability, and an evaluation suite of more than 1,284 test cases (Rearc AI Labs).
- Companies on AWS and Databricks. It is an AWS Advanced Partner with a migration competency and a Databricks delivery partner (about page).
Reasons to look elsewhere
- It is a team of about 90 people, so very large programs may stretch it.
- Its Claude partnership is recent, so most of its long record is in cloud and data work.
Rearc, At A High Level
Rearc’s founders led the move of Dow Jones and The Wall Street Journal to the public cloud, and Milin Patel, Mahesh Varma, and Chloe Wintzer left Dow Jones to start Rearc in 2016; Guardian Life Insurance was its first enterprise client (about page). It hired its first engineers outside the US, in India and Poland, in 2021, and launched a generative AI practice in 2023 (about page).
- Offices in New York and New Jersey, with team members around the world (about page).
- About 90 people on its team page; we estimate annual revenue at $13 million to $17 million (team page).
- A member of Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network, a Databricks Select Partner with Lakewatch and financial services specializations, and a Google Cloud and AWS partner (Rearc AI Labs).
- With Mastercard and Databricks it built the first financial services data collaboration use case on Databricks Clean Rooms (about page).

What clients and leaders say
Rearc’s leaders and clients describe its work in published announcements. One buyer concern is written from public facts about the firm.
“I have recommended them many times and will continue to do so. They are very knowledgeable about a large range of AWS products and what their underlying infrastructure would look like.”
“Rearc has proven to be a highly reliable and flexible partner for many years.”
“Working with Rearc employees together for years now. Appreciate all the value Rearc brings to the table, they are really smart and awesome people to work with.”
“Their engineers were strong on AWS, but the Claude work is recent, so we asked to see the insurer agent work in detail before we signed.”
