Our verdict

Sparq grew out of Rural Sourcing, a firm built on onshore engineering teams in smaller US cities, and since October 2026 it is a Claude Select partner with more than 130 certified staff. It suits a large company that wants senior US-led engineers to modernize the systems that run its operations and add AI to them, and it is less suited to a startup that needs a small team for a first product.

The right buyer

  • Operations-heavy companies in transportation and logistics, real estate and construction, retail, and financial services (about page).
  • Software companies adding AI features. With OpenAsset it built three Claude features into Proposal Studio and cut proposal creation time by 50% (Sparq announcement).
  • Buyers who want US leadership with nearshore scale. Senior US leaders run each engagement, with delivery teams across the US and Latin America (about page).

Reasons to look elsewhere

  • It changed its name in 2023 and has repositioned around AI since, so older references may describe a different service mix.
  • It publishes no rates, and its senior-led model is priced above offshore vendors.

Sparq, At A High Level

Monty Hamilton founded the firm as Rural Sourcing to place high-quality onshore software teams in smaller US metro areas; Bain Capital Double Impact took a controlling stake in 2019, the firm became Sparq in March 2023, and Harvest Partners Ascend later bought the majority of Bain’s stake (Bain Capital Double Impact). Ingrid Curtis, an executive at the company for more than 17 years, was appointed CEO in October 2025 and took over from Hamilton, who became chairman, at the start of 2026 (Sparq announcement).

  • Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with delivery teams across the US and Latin America (Sparq announcement).
  • More than 130 Claude-certified professionals; we estimate 500 to 700 employees in total and annual revenue of $70 million to $100 million (Sparq announcement).
  • Runs an internal test bed called The Shop and an applied AI foundation called Intelligence Studio, which carries tested components into client systems (about page).
  • Reports $200 million in annual cost savings enabled for clients and 90% of manual effort removed from critical workflows (about page).

Scores by criterion

We scored Sparq from its about page, its Claude partnership and leadership announcements, and its former investor’s portfolio page. The track record and scale score highest; commercial clarity scores lowest because it publishes no terms.

Where Sparq fits

Sparq is used by large US companies whose operations run on aging core systems, which hire it to modernize those systems and then add AI that cuts manual work. On price it is an upper mid-market US firm, with nearshore teams keeping rates below the large consultancies. Competitors on this site include Gorilla Logic for nearshore engineering, Logic20/20 for US-led modernization, and Keyhole Software for custom enterprise development.

What clients and leaders say

Sparq’s leaders and clients describe its work in published announcements. One buyer concern is written from public facts about the firm.

“Sparq partnered with our engineering team to accelerate delivery of AI capabilities, powered by Claude, directly within our product, and together we’ve built momentum to keep bringing new AI innovations to our customers.”

“Putting Claude into production is where its value becomes real for our clients.”

“The senior team knew our systems, but the rates were well above the offshore vendor we had used before.”

Where customer reviews couldn’t be found, our analysts attempted to give a voice to buyer sentiment, drawing on real information from review sites, forums and product documentation. Based on: Sparq about page, which describes senior-led US delivery with nearshore engineering.
