Bobby Gill

Co-founder and Chief Architect, BlueLabel

Bobby Gill is the co-founder and chief architect of BlueLabel, an AI development, implementation and consulting firm in New York, New York, which he founded in 2009 as the mobile app developer Blue Label Labs. A software engineer with more than two decades of experience, he leads the firm’s AI and machine learning practice.

Studying at Waterloo and Columbia

He earned a bachelor of mathematics in computer science at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and an MBA at Columbia University in New York, New York. He holds three patents, according to his BlueLabel biography.

Starting Blue Label Labs

In its early years Blue Label Labs was a team of developers building iOS, Android and Windows Phone apps, with offices in New York and in Seattle, Washington. With Jordan Gurrieri he wrote Appsters: A Beginner’s Guide to App Entrepreneurship, a guide for people with app ideas but no programming background. “Our goal with this book is to help non-programmers turn their app ideas into real app businesses,” he said when it came out (BlueLabel).

Leading the AI Practice

At BlueLabel he leads the AI, machine learning and generative AI work. His biography says he has trained and deployed models for recommendation engines, real-time language processing, translation, chatbots and object detection in images and video.

He led the BlueLabel team that built a model to predict whether jobs posted on Hyer, an on-demand labor platform, would be filled. Hyer’s CEO wrote in a 2024 review that “Bobby has done an outstanding job” and that he “understands our business because he’s been with us from day one” (Clutch).
