Our verdict
Monterail is a product design and engineering company that now builds AI platforms, such as a scheduling system for SPIE Belgium and a reporting tool on Claude for Simfoni, alongside the web and mobile apps it has made since 2010. Outside listings put it at about $50 to $99 an hour, in line with other Polish firms such as 10Clouds and Miquido. It suits a company that wants design and engineering from one team and has a product to ship quickly, and it is less suited to a buyer who wants heavy data science or model research.
The right buyer
- Enterprises replacing spreadsheets and disconnected tools with one AI application. For SPIE Belgium it built an AI-first platform that schedules more than 600 field workers, went live in seven weeks at a fixed price, and returns 100 hours a week to the company (homepage).
- Companies that want reports drafted from their own data. Its Insights AI tool for Simfoni uses Claude on AWS Bedrock to read procurement spend data and draft client reports (homepage).
- Startups that need a product team for years. It launched Seat Unique’s first version in 2018 and has grown that work to two teams and 18 engineers (homepage).
- Teams building on Vue.js or Nuxt. Monterail has been an official Vue.js partner since 2019 and a Nuxt partner since 2024 (about page).
Reasons to look elsewhere
- Buyers on a tight budget can find lower rates. Outside listings put it at about $50 to $99 an hour, against about $25 to $49 at Uptech and Intuz (GoodFirms profile).
- It bought three companies in 2025, Untitled Kingdom, EL Passion, and Lakeview Labs, so teams and processes are still being combined (Monterail announcement).
- Its AI cases are application builds on top of hosted models; it shows little custom model training.
- Most delivery runs from Poland, so US clients work across a six to nine hour time difference.
Monterail, At A High Level
Monterail designs and builds web and mobile software, and its homepage now presents it as a builder of AI-native software. Its client list includes Merck, Bosch, Pizza Hut, and the grocery delivery startup Flink (homepage).
- Founded in 2010 in Wrocław, Poland, and led by co-CEOs Szymon Boniecki and Bartosz Rega (about page).
- Reports more than 130 in-house experts, more than 900 projects, and a Net Promoter Score of 71 (about page).
- Annual revenue is an estimated $10 million to $15 million.
- Acquired Untitled Kingdom, a healthcare software company, in January 2025, the Warsaw design and development company EL Passion later that year, and Lakeview Labs of Chicago, Illinois, in October 2025 (Untitled Kingdom announcement; EL Passion announcement; Lakeview Labs announcement).
- Built a 0.7 MB diabetes education app for Merck that became Kenya’s top destination for diabetes questions and spread to nine African countries (homepage).

Where Monterail fits
Monterail is used by enterprises and funded startups that want designers and engineers on one team to ship an AI application or a customer app. It is best for operations tools that replace spreadsheets, AI reporting features, and long-running product teams. On price it is in the middle of the firms we review. Competitors here include Miquido and Netguru in Poland, Very Big Things for design-led apps, and Robots and Pencils in North America.
| Need | Fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| An AI operations tool that replaces spreadsheets | Strong | The SPIE Belgium platform for more than 600 field workers, live in seven weeks. |
| AI features inside an existing product | Strong | Insights AI for Simfoni, built on Claude through AWS Bedrock. |
| A long-term product team for a funded startup | Good | Eight years with Seat Unique and a Flink team that grew from 2 to 11 developers. |
| Custom model training or data science research | Weak | Few cases involve training models. |
