AI Consulting Market Size 2026

Analyst estimates of the 2025 AI consulting market run from $7.39 billion to $22.27 billion. We compare them and profile the 44 AI firms we review to show who takes on the client work.

Published October 27, 2026

Our analysts compared 14 AI consulting market size figures from eight research firms with the headquarters, founding year, published headcount, and disclosed revenue of the 44 AI firms we review, using figures that cover 2022 to 2035, to show how large the AI consulting market is and who does the work as of Q4 2026. We also checked the estimates against Gartner's AI services forecast, Mordor Intelligence's agentic AI figure, and the AI revenue that Accenture, IBM, and BCG report.

In the following sections, we compare the size, age, and location of the reviewed firms, their disclosed revenue against the market estimates, US and global market size estimates, forecasts to 2030, the reasons the estimates differ, and the segment shares each publisher reports.

Key Findings

  • Seven of the eight publishers give a 2025 global figure, from $7.39 billion to $22.27 billion, with a median of $10.86 billion.
  • Held to the same year, the eight forecasts imply a 2030 market of $19.47 billion to about $102.9 billion, with a median of about $32.7 billion.
  • Four of six US or North American figures run from $3.2 billion to $5.0 billion, and Emergen Research's US report reaches $12.5 billion.
  • Of the 35 reviewed firms that publish a headcount, 30 employ fewer than 250 people, and 33 of the 44 firms were founded from 2009 to 2019.
  • The four reviewed firms with fewer than 1,000 people that disclose revenue reported about $34.1 million combined, 0.46% of TBRC's $7.39 billion, the lowest of the seven published 2025 global figures.

Most Reviewed AI Firms Employ Fewer Than 250 People

A firm's team size limits how much work it can take on at once. We sorted the 44 reviewed firms into bands by the headcount each one publishes.

Source: AI Services Companies review data for the 44 firms, October 2026. Data: published-headcount-bands.csv

Key Findings

  • The 50 to 249 band is the most common, with 19 firms. Ten more publish a team of under 50, and Enthought publishes only a team of under 100, so 30 of the 35 firms with a published figure (86%) have fewer than 250 people.
  • BairesDev is the only reviewed firm with 1,000 or more people, and it sells general software development as well as AI work. Tribe AI works through a network of more than 500 contractors rather than a payroll, so it has no employee count.
  • The usual reviewed firm has a team of dozens to a few hundred people, so a buyer comparing one with a large consultancy is comparing organizations of very different size.

70% of Reviewed AI Firms Are Headquartered in the United States

Where a firm is headquartered affects the time zone, contract terms, and data rules a client works under. We recorded the first headquarters each reviewed firm lists on its own site, counting firms with delivery teams abroad where they are headquartered.

Key Findings

  • Of the 44 firms, 31 (70%) are based in the US, which matches the analyst reports that rank North America as the largest regional market.
  • Poland and the UK account for four firms each. 10Clouds, deepsense.ai, Netguru, and Vstorm are in Poland, and several US-based firms, such as BairesDev and HatchWorks AI, run delivery teams in Latin America.
  • Headquarters is not the same as where the work happens. Buyers who care about time zones or data residency can ask where the assigned team is located rather than where the firm is registered.

Most Reviewed AI Firms Were Founded From 2009 to 2019

How long a firm has been in business is one way to judge its track record. We placed the 44 reviewed firms on a timeline by founding year, one dot per firm, colored by published headcount, and grouped them by founding period in a table.

Key Findings

  • Of the 44 firms, 33 (75%) were founded from 2009 to 2019, and the two middle firms were founded in 2015 and 2016, so half the firms have operated for more than a decade.
  • Only four were founded in 2020 or later: Leanware (2020), Cognida.ai and Distyl AI (2022), and Hang Ten Systems (2026). In all, 41 of the 44 were operating before 2022.
  • Most reviewed firms were building software or data systems before generative AI arrived. That history gives them more past client work to check, and buyers can ask how much of it involved the kind of AI system they want built.

AI Application Development Is the Largest Category Among Reviewed Firms

AI firms specialize in different kinds of work, from application development to cloud and data platforms. We grouped the 44 firms by the category our reviews assign them and compared headcount, location, and founding year within each group.

Source: AI Services Companies review data for the 44 firms, October 2026. Data: category-size-location-age.csv

Key Findings

  • AI application development is the largest category, with 19 firms, followed by cloud and data platform AI with 12. Together they make up 31 of the 44 reviewed firms.
  • Every category is mostly made up of firms under 250 people, so the small-firm pattern is not the product of one specialty.
  • Buyers looking for agentic workflow or modernization work have fewer reviewed options, eight and five firms. A narrower field makes references and past client work more important when comparing them.

Revenue at Reviewed Firms Is a Small Fraction of Any Market Estimate

Comparing a firm's revenue with a market estimate shows what share of the market the firm holds. We gathered the revenue figures that reviewed firms have disclosed through filings, awards entries, and press releases and placed them next to the market estimates.

Key Findings

  • The four firms with fewer than 1,000 people that disclose revenue reported about $34.1 million combined, 0.46% of TBRC's $7.39 billion, the lowest of the seven published 2025 global figures.
  • KUNGFU.AI nearly doubled its revenue to $18.4 million in its latest fiscal year, while Fusemachines, which files with the SEC, reported a 12% drop to $7.7 million in 2025.
  • Future Market Insights is the only one of the eight publishers that splits its estimate by type of vendor, assigning 50% to 55% to large global firms and 20% to 25% of its $11.07 billion for 2025, about $2.2 billion to $2.8 billion, to boutique AI consultancies, startups, and regional providers. The $34.1 million disclosed by the four smaller firms is about 1.5% of the low end of that range.

US AI Consulting Market Size Estimates Range From $3.2 Billion to $12.5 Billion

Because the reviewed firms are mostly US-based, we collected each US or North American market estimate that the publishers release publicly.

Source: Publisher report pages, fetched October 2026. Data: us-market-size-estimates.csv

Key Findings

  • Four of the six figures run from $3.2 billion to $5.0 billion. Emergen's two reports are the outliers, and its US-only figure for 2024 is larger than the North American share implied by its own global report for 2025.
  • The US makes up about 30% of Market Glass's global estimate and about 39% of SNS Insider's. Future Market Insights expects US growth of 26.4% a year, faster than its 23.4% global rate.
  • For a US-focused figure, $3 billion to $5 billion for 2025 and 2026 is the range most publishers support. Before citing a larger number, check whether it comes from a broader definition of AI services.

Global AI Consulting Market Size Estimates Range From $7.39 Billion to $22.27 Billion for 2025

Anyone who cites a global market size has to choose among figures from different research firms. We opened the public report pages of eight of them and recorded each global market size, forecast, and growth rate as published. The last column adds the 2030 value implied by each publisher's own start and end points, which puts all eight forecasts on the same year.

Source: Publisher report pages, fetched October 2026, with implied 2030 values calculated by AI Services Companies. Data: global-market-size-estimates.csv

Key Findings

  • Five of the seven 2025 figures run from $7.39 billion to $11.07 billion, with a median of $10.86 billion. Emergen Research and Market Data Forecast put the market at about twice that, at $22.0 billion and $22.27 billion.
  • For 2026, the five publishers with a figure range from $8.96 billion (TBRC) to $30.24 billion (Market Data Forecast), a median of $13.8 billion. Growth rates run from 21.4% to 35.8% a year.
  • Citing the publisher along with the figure lets readers judge its scope. An estimate of about $11 billion for 2025 is supported by most reports, while $22 billion reflects a broader definition.

Implied 2030 Forecasts Range From $19.5 Billion to $103 Billion

Forecasts that end in different years cannot be compared directly. We projected each publisher's forecast to 2030, the earliest end year among the eight, from its own base year and growth rate, and plotted all eight in one chart.

Source: AI Services Companies analysis of eight published market reports, October 2026. Data: implied-2030-forecasts.csv

Key Findings

  • Five of the eight forecasts run from about $29.9 billion to $35.8 billion for 2030, and the median of all eight is about $32.7 billion. TBRC is the low outlier at $19.47 billion.
  • Market Data Forecast's path reaches about $103 billion because it combines the highest starting point with the fastest growth rate, 35.8% a year.
  • The spread in 2030 comes mostly from where each publisher starts, not from its growth rate. Comparing base-year figures first separates a real disagreement from a different starting point.

Market Estimates Run From $2.86 Billion to $434 Billion Because Publishers Count Different Work

Before comparing market sizes, it helps to know what each publisher counts as AI consulting. We read each publisher's public pages for its definition and recorded what each estimate covers.

What Each Market Estimate Counts
PublisherWhat the estimate covers2025 size
Mordor IntelligenceAgentic AI consulting only, a narrower slice of the market$2.86 billion
TBRCAdvisory services that help organizations plan and adopt AI$7.39 billion
SNS InsiderStrategy, IT, and operations consulting, with IT consulting the largest part at about 28%$10.86 billion
Emergen ResearchAI strategy, implementation and integration, and managed services, anchored to the AI revenue that large firms disclose$22.0 billion
GartnerAI services spending worldwide, a far broader category than AI consulting$434.0 billion

Source: Publisher report pages and Gartner press release of September 16, 2026, fetched October 2026. Data: what-each-estimate-counts.csv

Key Findings

  • The estimates that include implementation and managed services are the largest. Emergen counts implementation and integration as 42.6% of its total, which helps explain why its figure is about twice the median.
  • Gartner's AI services figure is about 40 times the median consulting estimate because it measures a far broader category than consulting. Gartner forecasts $576.5 billion for 2026.
  • The word consulting means different things in different reports. Before citing any figure, check whether it includes building and running systems or only advice.

Accenture's AI Revenue Alone Equals About 37% of TBRC's 2025 Market Estimate

To test the lower market estimates against real revenue, we collected the latest AI revenue and bookings that Accenture, IBM, and BCG report in their own filings.

AI Revenue Reported by Large Consulting Firms
FirmPeriodWhat the firm reported
AccentureFiscal year to August 31, 2025$2.7 billion in revenue from generative and agentic AI, triple the year before, and $5.9 billion in generative AI bookings; excludes data and classical AI
IBMThrough the end of 2025Generative AI book of business of more than $12.5 billion since inception, combining software and consulting
IBMThird quarter of 2026Generative AI work represents 35% of the consulting backlog; consulting revenue of $5.3 billion for the quarter
BCG2025AI- and tech-focused services over 40% of $14.4 billion in revenue, driven by 25% growth in AI services

Source: Accenture, IBM, and BCG annual reports, earnings releases, and presentations, October 2026. Data: large-consultancy-ai-revenue.csv

Key Findings

  • Accenture's $2.7 billion alone equals about 37% of TBRC's 2025 estimate and about 25% of the median, before counting IBM, BCG, or any boutique.
  • The $2.7 billion covers Accenture's fiscal year to August 31, 2025, the latest full-year AI revenue figure Accenture reports on this basis.
  • Because one firm's reported AI revenue equals about a quarter of the median estimate, we treat the lowest estimates as narrower in scope than the median.

Large Enterprises and Financial Services Lead Most Analyst Segment Splits

Besides a market total, some publishers report who buys AI consulting and what they buy. We lined up each publisher's published split by service type, buyer size, industry, and region.

Source: Publisher report pages, fetched October 2026. Data: largest-segments-by-publisher.csv

Key Findings

  • The three publishers that give a large-enterprise share put it at 65% to 72% of spending, and four publishers put North America at 36% to 42%.
  • Banking and financial services is the largest industry in four of the five reports in the table, at 19% to 22% of the market. Persistence Market Research reports IT and telecom as the largest, at over 22%.
  • Implementation and deployment is the largest service type at Emergen Research (42.6%) and Persistence Market Research (over 25%), while SNS Insider lists IT consulting (about 28%).

What to Check Before Quoting an AI Consulting Market Size

A market size figure describes only the work its publisher chose to count. Estimates built around advisory work come in near the low end of the 2025 range, and those that add implementation and managed services come in near the high end, so the same year can carry figures about three times apart.

The estimates describe the whole market, and the reviewed firms describe one slice of it. Neither the revenue the reviewed firms disclose nor the AI revenue of three large consultancies is enough to say which publisher's definition captures the market best.

So if you are quoting an AI consulting market size, give the publisher and what its estimate counts alongside the number.

Data Collection and Methodology

The study covers the 44 firms reviewed on AI Services Companies as of October 27, 2026. For each firm we recorded the headquarters, founding year, published headcount, category, and any disclosed revenue or funding printed in its review, which draws on the firm's own website, company filings, press releases, and third-party profiles.

Headcount bands use the figure each firm publishes. A figure such as 40+ is placed by its stated floor, so KUNGFU.AI and Vstorm count as under 50, and Enthought, which says it has under 100 employees, is counted as under 250 without a finer band. The founding-year chart and table place Enthought with the 50 to 249 firms. Nine firms publish no employee count, including Tribe AI, whose 500+ figure counts network contractors, and they are left out of the percentages. The 44 firms split evenly around the median: 22 were founded in 2015 or earlier and 22 in 2016 or later.

Market estimates come from each publisher's public report page, fetched in October 2026, and are stated in USD. We calculated products, differences, and ratios from the published values. For implied 2030 values, we compound each publisher's 2025 figure (2026 for Persistence Market Research) at the constant rate that reaches its own end-year forecast. TBRC publishes a 2030 figure, which we use directly. Emergen's North American value multiplies its 41.5% share by its $22.0 billion total, and the boutique range applies Future Market Insights' 20% to 25% tier share to its 2025 figure. Where a page gives conflicting figures in different sections, we use its summary figures.

Revenue figures cover different periods, which the table shows. The only conversion is 10Clouds' revenue, which Polish registry filings report in zloty and which we translated at the National Bank of Poland's 2025 average of 3.7588 zloty per US dollar, giving about $5.5 million.
