State of AI Services Q4 2026

Published November 2, 2026

Our analysts reviewed the headquarters, category, overall score, and pricing records of the 76 AI services firms we review, along with Gartner’s worldwide AI and IT spending forecasts for 2025 to 2027 and Accenture’s fiscal 2026 results, to show what the AI services market looks like as of Q4 2026.

Key Findings

  • Gartner forecasts worldwide spending on AI services at $576.5 billion in 2026, up 32.8% from $434.0 billion in 2025.
  • 51 of the 76 AI services firms we review (67%) are headquartered in the United States, and 14 of those are in California.
  • Cloud and data platform AI firms have the highest average score of our four categories, at 7.2 out of 10, against 6.8 for agentic workflow automation firms.
  • 29 of the 76 firms (38%) show no pricing at all, while 24 (32%) have a published or listed hourly or day rate.
  • 12 of the 23 firms with an hourly rate range (52%) charge $50 to $99 an hour.

Companies that want AI built into their products or operations often hire an outside firm to do the work, from a strategy assessment to a finished system. Spending on that help has grown with the rest of the AI market, and our AI consulting market size report covers the analyst estimates. The firms competing for the work are a mixed group. Some are engineering companies with thousands of staff, and others are teams of 20 people founded this year. So we looked at what the firms we review have in common and where they differ.

Our analysts read the facts panel and overall score of each of the 76 firm reviews published on this site as of October 30, 2026. We recorded each firm’s headquarters, review category, score, and the pricing it shows. We set those records beside Gartner’s September 2026 AI spending forecast, its July 2026 IT spending forecast, and Accenture’s results for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2026.

In the following sections, we compare forecast growth in AI services with other technology spending, where the firms we review are based, how they score by category, and how much they disclose about pricing.

AI Services Spending Is Growing About Six Times as Fast as IT Services

Market forecasts show how much money is moving toward outside AI help and how that compares with other technology budgets, so we set Gartner’s AI services figures beside its other AI markets and the wider IT services market.

Source: AI Services Companies analysis of Gartner (September 2026), Gartner (July 2026), and Accenture (October 2026), conducted November 2026.

Key Findings

  • AI services is the second-largest AI market in Gartner’s forecast after infrastructure, at $576.5 billion in 2026, or 21.6% of all AI spending. Gartner projects it will reach $745.7 billion in 2027.
  • AI services grows more slowly than AI software, at 32.8% against 60.2%, but about six times as fast as IT services as a whole, at 5.3%. Accenture’s revenue grew 6% in its fiscal 2026.
  • Gartner says enterprises now hire service providers less often for full business transformation and more often for smaller projects that use AI features in software they already own. Several firms we review sell that kind of short, scoped work, such as Master of Code Global’s 30-day AI pilot and Blue Orange Digital’s fixed-price assessment.

Two Thirds of the AI Services Firms We Review Are Based in the US

Where a firm is based affects its time zone, its rates, and the law that governs the contract, so we recorded the headquarters country of every firm we review.

Source: AI Services Companies analysis of headquarters listed in 76 AI services firm reviews, conducted November 2026.

Key Findings

  • 51 of the 76 firms (67%) are headquartered in the United States. California has the most, with 14, followed by New York and Georgia with five each and Texas with four.
  • Poland is the second most common base, with 10 firms (13%), ahead of the United Kingdom with five. The Polish firms, among them deepsense.ai and STX Next, average 7.2 out of 10, against 7.0 for the US firms.
  • A US headquarters does not always mean a US team. BairesDev runs much of its delivery from Latin America, MobiDev from Ukraine and Poland, and Fusemachines from Nepal, so a buyer who needs engineers in US time zones can check each review for delivery locations.

Cloud and Data Platform Firms Have the Highest Average Scores

Each firm we review is placed in one of four categories by the main kind of work it does, so we compared overall scores within and across those categories.

Source: AI Services Companies analysis of overall scores in 76 AI services firm reviews, conducted November 2026.

Key Findings

  • Cloud and data platform firms score highest on average, at 7.2, and five of the 19 score 7.5 or higher, led by Provectus at 7.9 and Loka at 7.7. Our cloud and data platform AI category lists all 19.
  • Agentic workflow automation has the widest spread. Five of its 18 firms (28%) score below 6.5, more than in any other category, while Distyl AI scores 7.6. Several of the lower-scoring firms were founded in 2026, such as Parallel Loop and SapienAI, and have short public track records.
  • The averages of the four categories are within 0.4 points of each other, and the range inside each category is wider. A buyer choosing between two firms in the same category learns more from their scores by criterion than from the category average.

Fewer Than a Third of AI Services Firms Show an Hourly Rate

Price is one of the first things a buyer wants to know and one of the hardest to find, so we sorted the pricing each firm review shows into four groups and recorded the hourly ranges.

Source: AI Services Companies analysis of pricing shown in 76 AI services firm reviews, conducted November 2026.

Key Findings

  • 29 of the 76 firms (38%) show no pricing at all, and another 14 (18%) describe how they bill, such as fixed fees, milestones, or dedicated teams, without amounts.
  • 12 of the 23 firms with an hourly range charge $50 to $99 an hour, and 11 of those 12 are headquartered in Poland or Ukraine or list offices in Poland, Ukraine, or Latin America. US-based firms with published rates, such as Keyhole Software and Robots & Pencils, list $100 to $149 an hour.
  • Three firms, Provectus, Distyl AI, and Hang Ten Systems, tie fees to outcomes or milestones, and several others sell a fixed-price assessment or pilot before a larger project. Those first-stage prices give a buyer a way to compare firms that publish no rates.

What the State of AI Services Means for Companies Hiring a Firm

Spending on outside AI help keeps growing quickly, and the firms competing for it range from new teams of about 20 people to engineering companies with thousands of staff. Most of the firms we review are based in the US, many deliver from lower-cost countries, and few publish what they charge.

Gartner expects more of that spending to go to smaller projects built on software companies already use, and several of the firms we review already sell fixed-price first stages that fit those projects. Our AI consulting pricing models and AI consulting hourly rates reports cover what those prices look like.

So if you are hiring an AI services firm this quarter, start with the category that matches your project, compare firms on their scores by criterion, and request a fixed-price first stage you can measure before you commit to a larger contract.

Data Collection and Methodology

Our study covers the 76 firm reviews published on this site as of October 30, 2026. For each review we recorded the headquarters, review category, overall score, and the pricing shown in the facts panel. Headquarters country is the first location the review lists. Making Sense, which lists Palo Alto, California, and Mar del Plata, Argentina, is counted as US, and Lucent Innovation, headquartered in Ahmedabad with a US office, is counted as India. Two firms do not publish a headquarters. US state counts treat New York City as New York.

Overall scores are weighted averages of criterion scores on a 10-point scale, as described on our methodology page. Averages and medians are rounded once to one decimal from the raw values. Score bands use the overall score as published. The enterprise systems and modernization category is shortened to enterprise systems in the chart.

Pricing groups: a published or listed hourly or day rate, including rates shown in third-party directory listings; a minimum project size, project range, or fixed price with no rate; a billing model described with no amounts; and no pricing shown. Advancing Analytics publishes day rates and is counted in the first group but left out of the hourly ranges, which cover the other 23 firms in that group.

Market figures come from Gartner’s September 2026 AI spending forecast and July 2026 IT spending forecast, both worldwide and in US dollars, and from Accenture’s results for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2026. Gartner’s AI services and IT services markets overlap and should not be added together. We calculated products, differences, and ratios from the published values.
